In
1965 he moved to London to begin a career that is still going today
in 2005. In the early days he worked the blues clubs with a fine
harmonica player “Moxie” and was hired as a sideman
for various chart artists touring England and Europe.
1968
was the year his songwriting took off and he was signed, with his
band “Mayfields Mule” to E.M.I. records, and was able
to record at Abbey Road studios through 1971, releasing several
singles and an album on the Parlophone label.
In
1972 he moved to Amsterdam and spent some time playing acoustic
blues in European venues. Retuned to England in 1975 and joined
up with ex-Experience bass player Noel Reading for an interesting
musical venture.
1979
brought a move to Los Angeles, California, and to an eight piece
band playing clubs in the L.A. area. Whilst in California he played
music with many people, some for a long time, some for a short time,
but always for a good time. A few of these being Ritchie Hayward,
Kenny Gradney, Coco Montoya, Greg Wright, Jimmy Z, J.J. Cale and
many others.
In
1986 moved down to San Diego and returned to acoustic blues with
accomplished guitar and harmonica player Jeff Moran.
1989
brought another move, to the bluegrass state of Kentucky, to a log
cabin in the woods. From there he maintained his musical endeavours
playing blues and bluegrass from Nashville to Louisville and places
in between.
In
1998 returned to England and formed Bluze………..the
Band.
