the opening track bluze are clearly approaching their art from somewhere
"other". Even though five of the eight tracks are covers
the rythmic overtones make their sound distinct. The secret seems
to be not only the musical expertise of Les Morgan (Drums), Beaz
(harmonica, flute and Jew's harp), Chris Mayfield (guitars, bass
and vocals) but also the Senegalese influence of Noel Gueye that
goes beyond his percussion and keyboard playing and seems to affect
the guitar sound too. This is particularly the case on "Baby
Please Don't Go" (Williams) arranged by Chris Willey who also
wrote theoriginals "God Gave Us The Blues" and "Better
Days On Dry Land". Tony Joe White's "Rainy Night In Georgia"
is given a Caribbean makeover (and cries out for the voice of Errol
Linton). The core band formed in April 1998 and are based in Gloucestershire.
They have an easygoing progressive-Delta sound. This CD is a demo;
the finished product will be awaited with bated ears.
